The Problem
What this index is
Most "AI visibility" claims are vibes. This index is measurement: real buyer-intent prompts run against five AI engines — ChatGPT (OpenAI), Claude (Anthropic), Gemini (Google), Grok (xAI), Perplexity — with every response logged and every brand mention counted. The composite metric is the AIR Score (a trademark of Deep AI Solutions Inc): 0-100 across mention, recommendation, and sentiment.
Two published datasets exist today: Edition 01 of the national index (HVAC & Plumbing — see rankings) and the Houston AI Visibility Index study, which measured a full metro and found a median AIR Score of 31/100 (deepaisolutions.com/research/houston-ai-visibility-index-2026).
Headline findings so far
From Edition 01 (measured 2026-07-09, full data at the live AI Visibility Index):
- 1,103 brand mentions across the measurement run; 38 of 46 tracked national brands surfaced at least once.
- Roto-Rooter is the most AI-visible brand in the category at 10.0% mention share; Mr. Rooter follows at 9.0%.
- From the Houston metro study: median AIR Score 31/100 — half of measured businesses are barely visible to the AI systems their customers now ask.
Context for why this matters: Google AI Overviews appear in roughly half of searches (D&D SEO Services, 2026), and about 1 in 3 U.S. adults uses an AI chatbot weekly (Pew Research via iQDigital, 2026).

Questions about how the numbers are made? Methodology discloses everything, and how is the index calculated answers the common ones.
